Phillip Island – Melbourne

We hired a car for 3 days from Melbourne and drove to the Yarra Valley to pick up some wine, before heading down to Phillip Island. We did the private penguin tour which was awesome! The penguins come right up to you! We also checked out the race track and did a decent walk around Cape Woolamai State Faunal Reserve which was beautiful.

On the trip back to Melbourne we detoured and drove through the Dandelong Ranges. Such a picturesque drive and had a great lunch at the Pig & Whistle Tavern after stopping off the have a look at Puffin Billy.

Heron Island – Queensland

Heron Island and small coral formed Island just off the coast from Gladstone. This is absolute paradise! You can snorkel or scuba all around the coral cove or just relax on the beach. This Island is famous for the turtles, but there is plenty more stuff to do… or not do if you are that way inclined.

Skiing New Zeland

We landed in Christchurch and drove to Wanaka. This place was great and in town there is a tasty little mexican restaurant which fills you up after a full day of skiing! Also, puzzle world is great if you want a day off skiing.

After this we drove to Queenstown.  The town itself was beautiful & skiing great & if you have time it’s well worth visiting Arrowtown which is about 20km from the centre of town which is quite cute!

Jaipur, Rajasthan – India

Jaipur was full of beautiful architecture as well. The floating palace was well worth a look. The fort was so cool to explore and get lost in. Make sure you go down underneath the palace. There is a security guy down there that doesn’t get to do too much during the day and is keen for a chat about the bats!

Agra – India

Agr is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. Not for the town itself, but the sites. The Taj Mahal is amazing & the red fort has got to be one of the most architecturally beautiful things I have ever seen. Once you pass the touts, scammers and people trying to sell you stuff outside, you are blown away by the size and the detail is just extraordinary!

Delhi – India

Delhi can be described in two words… Organised Chaos! Hmmm, now that I think of it, all of India can be described like that. You can’t really take everything in with just one set of eyes!

There are a couple of places we found we quite nice to get away from he hustle and bussle in Delhi. We found Gandhi’s tomb ad surrounding quite peaceful and Humayun’s tomb also worth a look from a tourist perspective. Other than that, it’s just fun going down alleyways and getting quite lost taking in the sites. Just remember to take the address of where you are staying, so you can get back easily.

Kahna – Tiger Safari – India

Kahna was a great place off the beaten track and relatively quieter and more relaxing than the big cities. It was a bit of a pain to get to from Jabalpur, but we hired a driver for a couple of days which was the easiest and quickest way around. There were no atms in town (closest on was 2 hours from town) so make sure you have cash on you before you go. The tiger safari was good. Seeing tigers in the wild was quite amazing. There are no fences around the town, so don’t be surprised about hearing stories about tigers coming into town looking for food. Don’t worry, apparently they only have a taste for cows, so luckily their are loads of them around.

Dehi & Jabalpur – India

If there is one thing you should definitely do in your life, attending an Indian wedding in India is it! Dancing, colour, the foods, the smell and even the lack of sleep all make it such a magical experience.

Tulip festival – holland (Keukenhof Gardens)

From Amsterdam we traveled by train to Haalem. At the station there you can get your ticket on the bus to Lisse, where the Keukenhof Gardens are. It’s a bit like Disney land but for flowers, but well worth seeing. Be sure one you seen the flowers inside the garden, take a walk outside as well to see the fields of flowers, all very impressive.

Les Houches & Chamonix

We stayed in Les Houches. It was cheaper than the bigger resorts, but still quiet easy to get to each of the different ski resorts around by the free bus. It was end of season (Mid April 09), but there was still the best powder & you could ski in a T-shirt which was awesome!
